ACC Liverpool are leading the way in sustainable events

Wednesday, 19 February 2025

ACC Liverpool have shared an impressive update on their sustainability journey and have announced ambitious new targets for 2025 in their sustainability strategy.

The venue has implemented a range of initiatives to reduce its environmental footprint, from installing air sourced heat pumps and LED lighting, promoting sustainable waste management practices, and increasing biodiversity on-site.

The venue’s ongoing efforts include collaborating with local businesses and environmental organisations to reduce their carbon footprint, alongside offering support and guidance to event organisers who share their vision of hosting eco-conscious events. Long-term efforts to reduce carbon emissions are continuing to pay off after the latest figures show that their carbon emissions have reduced by 12%, putting the organisation ahead of schedule in their goal to reach carbon zero by 2030.

As well as their own sustainability efforts, they’re empowering their clients to host more sustainable events too. The venue is working with Greengage using their EVENTsmart carbon reporting tool to measure the footprint of all events taking place on their campus.

The team are exhibiting at International Confex next week, together with Liverpool Convention Bureau, where they can use data from previous events to calculate its existing footprint and demonstrate to organisers how they can help to reduce this going forward.

Adrian Evans, Director of Sales – Conference & Business Events at ACC Liverpool, said: “We’re reaffirming our commitment to a greener future and our recent successes have inspired us to keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in sustainable event management.

“Using Greengage’s carbon measurement tool EVENTsmart to track the impact of event activities, we can advise our clients and help implement responsible decision making into the planning, organisation, and participation in an event. We want to set a new standard for what venues can accomplish when they embrace a sustainable mindset.”

Andrew Perolls, CEO at Greengage Solutions, said: “ACC Liverpool is among an elite group of event venues to achieve Greengage’s prestigious ECOsmart Platinum certification. Their commitment to sustainability is exemplified by the adoption of EVENTsmart, a cutting-edge tool for measuring the CO₂ impact of all events. This proactive approach reinforces their outstanding reputation for minimizing environmental impact and leading the way in sustainable event management.”

With an impressive track record in hosting major national and international conferences, a highly professional and experienced team to support you and high quality, state-of-the-art facilities, ACC Liverpool is the perfect location for your next event.
